Subtypes of P-fimbriae of uropathogenic Escherichia coli isolated in Korea

Abstract

|
For the identification of subtypes of P-imbriae in uropathogenic Escherichia coli rabbit was immunized with uropathogenic E. coli NK I. Immunoblot analysis of E. coli strains bearing recombinant plasmids of F fimbriae was performed with pre-bsorbed and absorbed polyclonal rabbit anti-P-imbriae.
Specific reactions in the range of P-imbiral molecular weight of 19 KDa ?22 KDa were identified in the immunoblot analysis with pre-bsorbed serum, although non-pecific reactions were also found. However, thoroughly absorbed anti-P-imbriae serum was reacted only to the F7 and Fll fimbriae. This means the possibility of using absorbed polyclonal antibodies in the analysis of subtypes of P-imbriae.
